Understanding learning analytics is to know the process of gathering, analyzing, and reporting data regarding learners and their outcomes within a particular learning system. Learning analytics is the process of being able to collect and understand information that reflects a learning system and its accomplishments. 

Benefits

Learning analytics can be extremely beneficial for teachers as they can understand how their students are responding to the teacher's performance. Learning analytics has to mode to gather information towards learner's behavior which then provides feedback for the teacher. This feedback can be helpful for the teacher as it allows them to see what is increasing student improvement and what might not be as effective. Learning analytics is a great outlet that incorporates technology into a classroom to better analysis student performance. 

Challenges/Barriers

Certain challenges do arise when attempting to collect learning analytics such as the ethical issues towards it. Individuals have implied that the collection and keep of personal data needs more transparency. One solution that has been discussed is storing and processing this collected data anonymously to ensure that no one's information is exposed without their consent. Along with this, a second barrier is the limitation placed on disadvantaged students or unforeseen problems such as the standard threshold that differs from educational institutions. 

Spreadsheets Benefit Teachers

Teachers can benefit much from the use of spreadsheets as it provides a multitude of helpful tips and organization tools. Using charts within a spreadsheet allows for data to be clearer and more organized for the teacher to understand and fully be able to interpret.

Learning analytics can definitely help me as a future teacher as it assists me in developing data of student behavior and what I can do as a teacher to help the. Learning analytics allows me to see my student's needs, as my goal to allow my students the best classroom environment to learn.
